Numerical investigation of a new cabin wall concept

How new materials are shaping the flying comfort of tomorrow

In a BMWK-funded project, Novicos is working on the development of cabin walls with special acoustic damping properties in the low-frequency range. In the project, we are cooperating with an interdisciplinary team from HAW Hamburg, the DLR Institute of Materials Research and the University of Cologne. The aerogels developed by the UoC and the DLR promise a very interesting approach for more potent insulation compared to conventional materials.

Read in this paper:

  • ... on a multidisciplinary approach to solving vibro-acoustic challenges in aviation

  • ... on the investigation of a cabin wall concept for attenuating engine noise

  • ... on the validation of simulation models through measurements on an aircraft fuselage segment

  • ... on the testing of aerogels as an alternative insulation material
